"For every adversity, every failure, every heartache, carries with it the seed of an equivalent or greater benefit." - Napolean Hill

Who has the perfect outcome in all situations? No one that I know. We all make plans or have hopes and dreams that don't always end up the way we wish them to. But, that doesn't mean that you aren't on the right path or that things won't ultimately work out in the end regardless of what you are going through.

Many times when going through some adversity or crisis we think it's the end of the world and there's no light at the end of the tunnel. It may very well be the end of something as you once knew it or hoped it would be but it certainly doesn't preclude you from having a life. And a good one at that.

What happens is we become so attached to what we "thought" it would be and when it doesn't turn out the way we "thought" it would, instead of accepting it and letting it go, we hold onto our attachment and try and control the outcome.

No one likes to be on the short end of the stick or left holding the bag so to speak. But if and when it happens to you what can you do about it? That's called, life. It's simply the way it goes sometimes, and like it or not you have to deal with life with all of its ups and downs, highs and lows, joys and sorrows.

The good news is, no matter what situation you find yourself in, this too shall pass. Nothing lasts forever. Not even pain, sorrow, pity, worry, fear etc. Unless of course you keep yourself attached to the outcome and that is when you become stuck and won't let go.

We all wish we could wave a magic wand and have our lives be exactly as we want. But here's the deal. We all know that sh*t happens in life as they say, but it's not what happens to us that matters most, it's how we decide we are going to deal with it.

You have a choice to see the glass half empty or half full; to look on the bright side of your life or live in the darkness, to accept things as they are or torment yourself trying to control everything and everyone who doesn't acquiesce to your desires and needs.

You have the choice to live your life any way you want. You can choose to be miserable or you can learn to appreciate what is good in your life in spite of any hardships. It's up to you whether you walk down Poor Me Lane or I'm a Survivor Blvd.

Adversities in life come in all different shapes and sizes and can land on our doorsteps at any given moment. Just when you thought it was safe to go in the water, bam, life happens. The bottom line is you either sink or swim.

It always boils down to one thing; you choosing how you are going to handle what happens to you; nothing more and nothing less. Your reaction to what happens to you in life squarely sits on your shoulders.

So when things aren't working out the way you had planned, just wait, it will pass. And it will pass sooner if you accept it and let it go. Otherwise, you hang onto the attachment of "if only" and "why me" and that is when you will begin to live in the past.

There is nothing quite like living with the stress of heartache, worry or fear and all of the other stuff that messes with your peace of mind.

But, if you choose to put things into perspective, know that it's nothing but another passing circumstance and everything always works out in the end, you will be one step closer to letting go of attachment when things don't go the way you want.
